Kiwi, Lime & Basil Blender Sorbet

Kiwi, Lime & Basil Blender Sorbet

I love making sorbet with frozen fruit using a high speed blender! They are every bit as delicious as store-bought sorbets, but with only a fraction of the sugar. You can check out my recipes for Pina Colada Sorbet and Pineapple Mint Sorbets HERE and HERE.

The idea for this sorbet came from one of my favourite green smoothie recipes where I blend mixed greens, celery, kiwi fruit, lime and basil. It's so refreshing on a hot day it lead me to wonder if it might work as a blender sorbet. And it does!

This sorbet isn't as sweet as the other ones in my Recipes section (unless you add in extra sweetener). But I find I quite enjoy it without any extra sweetener - its almost like a savoury sorbet. And the kiwi seeds give it a delightful crunchy texture.

But whether you sweeten it or not, it's delicious. I think the basil makes this dish, but feel free to substitute fresh mint leaves if you prefer.

Ingredients

6 kiwifruit, peeled, chopped into chunks and frozen in an airtight container or ziplock bag.
Juice of two limes
1 generous handful of basil leaves (no stalks) - or substitute mint leaves if you prefer
Your preferred sweetener to taste (optional - stevia, maple syrup or honey)

Method

Place all ingredients in a Vitamix or other high speed blender
Blend until the desired sorbet consistency is achieved
You will need to use the tamper accessory to ensure all ingredients are blended uniformly.

Serve immediately and enjoy!

This sorbet needs to be served immediately. If you put it back in the freezer it will get too hard to eat easily.
